The gunman walked calmly down the isle during the 8:15am church services in Maryville Illinois and briefly spoke to the pastor then pulled out a .45 caliber semi automatic pistol shooting the pastor at point blank range. The pastor used his bible to shield the bullets but was killed. The gunman then began slashing himself and two parishioners as they tried to subdue him when his gun jammed.To mention "shootings, stabbing and murder" within same sentence of a church service was unimaginable a few years ago.
